Our town centre car park is one of the major eyesores in our otherwise beautiful location. Whist most communities would accept that the nature of any car park is bleak tarmac crammed with hundreds of cars, we believe we can make it a more pleasant space by `greening it` gradually over time.
There have been many proposals to re-develop the open barren space, all of which came to nothing. So what we have been doing is to establish `groups` of planters which provide some colourful planting to `green` and `brighten-up` non-car parking spaces.
This has involved considerable community action funded by a £5,000 grant from the national lottery which paid for the materials and labour required. We hope to add to this small project over the years and help make the space more attractive for residents and visitors to enjoy.
